CALL-OUT MEETING SET FOR BICENTENNIAL PLANNING

Indiana will celebrate its 200th anniversary next year and the Cass County Community Foundation is coordinating a unified county-wide celebration in Cass County.
CCCF president Deanna Crispen joined us yesterday on Talk of the Town.
"Next year is the state’s bicentennial and while I know some organizations have started thinking that, there really isn’t a cohesive plan for Cass County. We want our community to have a celebration that they can be proud of and there are already a lot of organizations that are working on this.We also have a long history of summer festivals and events that already take place, but we felt like there was a need to get them all together, get them under one umbrella, pick a brand for Cass County, and the only way that that was going to happen, after talking with the city and county and some of these organizations, was to have a project coordinator - a one stop show with somebody to be the champion for this project. We are hosting a call out meeting, next Wednesday, August 19, at 5 o’clock in Ivy Tech’s community room."
"The purpose is just to gather those interested organizations and individuals who may already have a plan or wish to participate in planning something that’s more unified to celebrate in Cass County next year. We really want to try and get people focused around the key pillars the bicentennial commission has identified: history and celebration, youth and education, nature conservation and then community involvement."
"We’re really excited. We think that our role is to help fund getting this organized and then let a coordinator take it and run.  We’ve already identified some funds and set up a pass through fund for the Bicentennial that we can match with some of the Phase 6 Lilly money."
The Cass County Community Foundation will host a “callout meeting” on Wednesday August 19th at 5:00pm in the Ivy Tech Community Room. The community foundation hopes existing organizations that share these interests will attend and participate.
