LOGAN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ROBBERY, MANUFACTURING METH

A Logansport man plead guilty Monday to an armed robbery of a Logansport grocery store that happened earlier this month. Cass County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa Swaim says Christopher Stanton also plead guilty to manufacturing meth in a prior unrelated case.

He was charged in October 2014 with manufacturing meth and other drug related charges. A surety bond of $10,000 was posted in January. Public documents filed on August 10 indicate that while released on bond, the defendant entered the Marsh Supermarket located at 824 North 3rd Street in Logansport on August 8 and presented a note indicating that he had a gun and demanding cash from the register. He was apprehended a short time later with a quantity of cash in denominations matching information provided by the Marsh employee who had been robbed. Stanton’s plea agreement calls for him to serve 12 years in the Department of Correction. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 14.
