CANDIDATE FORUMS OCT 1 & 15

Logansport and Royal Center residents who aren’t registered to vote have until next Monday, October 5 to register if they’re planning to vote in the November 3 election. The Cass County Clerk’s office is taking applications from those who want to receive a ballot to vote absentee by mail, or by a visit from the travel board on election day.

Logansport voters will choose a mayor, clerk-treasurer and all seven city council members.

On Thursday, October 1, the candidates for Logansport City Council Ward 2 will host a forum at 7 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church where residents who live in their ward will be able to ask questions of the candidates. Ward 2 includes Logansport’s south and west sides. Those in the southwest annexation area would also be part of ward 2. There are three Ward 2 city council candidates -- Republican incumbent Joe Buck, who’s seeking his second term, Democrat Larry Hood, who previously served as Ward 2 councilman and who ran for mayor as a Republican in the primary, and independent William Bentley.

A forum for all Logansport candidates, presented by the Chamber of Commerce, League of Women Voters and local media, will be October 15 at McHale Performing Arts Center.

There’s one contested race on the ballot for Royal Center voters, for Royal Center Town Council Ward 1. Voters in the Walton and Galveston areas will not have a ballot in November.

Early voting in the garage at the Cass County Government Building begins October 19.
