FLORA MAN INJURED

A Flora man was injured yesterday in a two-vehicle crash on US 31 in Miami County. It happened just before 1 o’clock. Indiana State Police say a 2015 Mack Semi-Tractor driven by 47 year old Tony Parsons of Lebanon was westbound on Miami County Road 500 S and allegedly failed to yield to cross traffic on US 31. The semi-tractor, which was pulling an empty tanker trailer, was struck by a southbound Subaru Odyssey driven by 54 year old Scott Collins of Flora.

Firefighters from the Peru and Grissom Fire Departments had to extricate Collins from his heavily damaged vehicle. He was then transported by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Ft Wayne with non- life threatening internal injuries. Both drivers were wearing a seat belt which is believed prevented more serious injuries in the crash.

Parsons was issued a citation for failure to yield to cross traffic. Neither alcohol nor drug use is believed to be a factor in this crash.
