2015 MUNICIPAL ELECTION RESULTS

3227 voters headed to the polls in Logansport and Royal Center to cast their ballots for the 2015 municipal election. When the night was over, only one member of Logansport’s existing administration had retained her seat. Democrats swept all but one of the offices in Logansport. Democrat Dave Kitchell will become Logansport’s 51st mayor, with 1,835 votes to Republican incumbent Ted Franklin’s 1,148.

Democrat Stacy Cox won the race for Clerk-Treasurer, with 1755 votes. Republican incumbent Carol Sue Hayworth received 1,255.

In Ward 5, Republican Teresa Popejoy was the only member of the Logansport City Council re-elected, with 375 votes. Democrat Carl McPherson received 285.

In Ward 1, Democrat Dave Morris received 318 votes to 188 votes for Republican incumbent Bob Bishop.

In Ward 2, Democrat Larry Hood received 303 votes. Republican incumbent Joe Buck received 247 votes and Independent William L. Bentley received 54.

In Ward 3, Democrat Amy Densborn received 250 votes to 144 for Republican incumbent Gary Fox.

In Ward 4, Scott Peattie received 504 votes to 336 for Republican Mike Stajduhar.

There were four candidates for the two at-large seats on the council. Democrat Kevin Burkett received 1725 votes and Democrat Terry Doran received 1,713. Republican Chris Martin received 1,231 votes and Independent Incumbent Charlie Hastings received 885 votes.

In Royal Center, there was a contested race for Town Council, Ward 1. Democrat Teresa Hiatt won with 78 votes to 64 for Republican Conrad D. Funk. Democrat Sandi Minnick was unopposed for clerk-treasurer and received 109 votes; Republican Marion Frog Campbell was unopposed for Royal Center Town Council Ward 4 and received 115 votes.

The new elected officials will take office January 1.

At the Logansport city council’s meeting on Monday, Mayor Ted Franklin said he planned to call a special meeting for Monday, Nov. 9 to discuss year-end financial matters.
