LOGANSPORT CITY OFFICIALS TAKE OFFICE

Logansport’s new elected and appointed officials were sworn in in front of a standing room only crowd during a New Year’s Day ceremony at noon Friday.

“I think the turnout today was a show of how much people really love the city and they care for its future and we're up to the task. If there's anything that made a resolution for us this year, it's seeing this many people in the city building on a cold January 1st.”

That’s Mayor Dave Kitchell. The Logansport City Council’s utility and rules committees will meet at 5 p.m. tonight in the city council chambers, before the regular monthly meeting of the Logansport City Council at 6:30.

“I will sign a code of ethics pledge from the International Mayors to discharge my duties ethically and fairly in everything I do. They'll be approving a resolution in support of Skip Kuker and his fight against cancer, they'll be assigning committees and committee chairmanships, and we'll be straightening out some pay issues that were left at the end of the year. We'll establish the Deputy Mayor's Position again, we'll establish the sexton's position again, street commissioner, and the public access document, we'll reverse that. All of the public access requests will come through the clerk-treasurer's office as they should have been in the first place.”

Kitchell is scheduled to join us for Talk of the Town at 8 a.m Tuesday, January 5 on Talk of the Town on WSAL.

Another meeting that is changing is the Board of Public Works and Safety. They’ll now meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays.
