Carroll County’s council and commissioners have yet to meet in a joint session to discuss the future and present situation of human resources in the county. The two government bodies are instead calling on one another to make the next step in addressing the issue.
Auditor Tom Gray said on Thursday, that he is limiting human resources duties to two hours per week. He has previously said those tasks are not part of his job as county auditor, and he gave the county until June 30 to hike his salary by $8,000, which the council did not. Since Gray announced that in May, the council and its attorney have discussed possible legal action against Gray, citing his not following a county ordinance that says human resources fall under the auditor’s office. Gray assumed office in April and is the fourth Carroll County auditor in three years. Three previous auditors have resigned since June 2014.
