Dog Ordinance Likely In Cass County

How many dogs is too many? Cass County leaders will likely determine that number for you, soon. Commission President Jim Sailors says next week’s vote will possibly require county residents to have a kennel license if they have more than three dogs. If your dog recently gave birth to puppies, the rule would not apply, but there would be a deadline. Sailors said he’s heard of cases where someone has 20 dogs, and that is clearly out of line. He says it’s not healthy for the residents or the dogs. Right now, the county’s animal ordinance deals only with animals running at large and continuous barking. Monday’s meeting is at 1pm in the commissioner’s hearing room.
