Rieth-Riley Construction Company plans to close Indiana 28 on Monday, July 25, to build a new interchange at U.S. 31. Indiana 28 access across U.S. 31 and direct access to and from Indiana 28 at U.S. 31 will be unavailable for up to 120 days. After the closure of Indiana 28, the existing traffic signal on U.S. 31 will be removed. Combined with the previously completed U.S. 31 Major Moves projects in Hamilton County, Kokomo and South Bend, more than 33 traffic signals will have been removed from U.S. 31 north of Indianapolis.
U.S. 31 will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the completion of the project. The speed limit will remain reduced to 50 mph through the work zone.
