Residents Show Support For Galveston Town Marshal

Concern is mounting in Galveston, after the firing of Town Marshal Shawn Durham. Blue ribbons have been tied to trees and other landmarks around town by people who say they support Durham and want the town’s reserve officer program reinstated. Tomorrow night, the town council will vote on a motion to fire Durham after Council President John Hart said Durham displayed insubordinate behavior by refusing to turn over keys to the police station, patrol car keys, and computer passwords. Hart says Durham also secretly recorded private conversations and spoke to the media without permission. Tuesday’s meeting is at 7:00 at Galveston Community Center.
