Inaugural Festival Planned For Dentzel Carousel
A new festival will debut in Cass County at the end of this month. The first-ever Carousel Festival in the Park will be August 26th and 27th at Riverside Park in Logansport. The Dentzel Carousel in Spencer Park was originally in Fort Wayne’s Robison Park, according to the carousel’s website. It moved to Logansport in 1919 when the park in Fort Wayne closed. In 1949, the carousel was moved to Riverside Park with new owners. The carousel was named a National Historic Landmark in 1987 and was completely restored in 1993. The festival later this month will honor the creator of the carousel, Gustav Dentzel. Admission will be free, with $1 tickets to certain activities.
