Vacant House Catches Fire

A vacant house is a total loss after a fire Monday afternoon. Logansport firefighters responded to the 500 block of Fitch Street at about 4pm. The house is abandoned, but owned by Johnson Werst, who said yesterday that he was getting ready to take over the property after buying it in a tax sale. It appears the house had no utilities hooked up. Assistant Fire Chief Mark Strong said arson could be the cause, but that hasn’t been determined yet. One firefighter fell through a hole inside the house and suffered a minor injury.
