Schools Warn Parents after Reports of Man in Cargo Van Approaching Children

Area schools reached out to parents yesterday after a disturbing incident was reported to police and school officials. According to an e-mail from Caston School Principal Chuck Evans, a parent informed the school that on February 14th, a man in a white Ford cargo van with no windows approached her child and asked if he wanted Valentine’s candy. The child had just been let off the bus, and the bus had driven away.  The man was described as a thin white male in his late forties to early fifties with brown curly hair and a scruffy beard. Parents in all surrounding communities are encouraged to make sure someone is at home or at the bus stop when children get dropped off after school.
