Muehlhausen Named 'Citizen of the Week’

A former county prosecutor who is now on one of the three judicial benches in the county is the newest recipient of a local honor. The Honorable Jim Muehlhausen has been named “Citizen of the Week” by Mayor Dave Kitchell for the work he did in initiating the River Bluff Trail and for conveying a portion of his former law office to Junior Civic Theater.

“While Jim was the legal counsel for Logansport Memorial Hospital, he diligently worked to secure the legal answers that made the River Bluff Trail possible,” Kitchell said. “It’s one thing to encourage an active lifestyle and walking, but Jim and the Memorial trustees went above and beyond to really make a lasting difference in our community by securing the 1.3-mile stretch that is truly appreciated.”

The mayor also credited Muehlhausen for work that led to the donation of a former downtown storefront to Junior Civic Theatre.

“Junior Civic had been looking for a home for some time, and this gives the organization much needed space, in addition to bringing people to downtown Logansport and generally supporting the performing arts for young people in a very visible way.”

Judge Muehlhausen is in his first year as Cass Superior Court II judge.

The Citizen of the Week Award is presented on an ongoing basis to recognize local residents and natives for their work or volunteerism. He will receive a certificate from the Mayor’s Office and a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
