Local AT&T Workers Join Nationwide Strike

Several local AT&T employees are protesting in front of the store on E. Market Street. We spoke with employee Tony who told us they are part of the Communication Workers of America Union and have been trying to negotiate a contract with AT&T since January. The workers walked off the job beginning at 3 PM today. The three-day strike affects more than 20,000 AT&T Mobility employees across the country, including technicians, call-center workers, and retail employees. Thousands more workers in the company's landline and DirecTV divisions in California, Nevada and Connecticut also joined the strike. Tony said the workers are fighting for job security and are tired of seeing AT&T jobs continue to be outsourced overseas.
