MORE REPORTS OF DEAD DOGS

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department and Cass County Animal Control are investigating 2 additional reports of animal cruelty in rural Cass County. We told you last week about 13 Blue Tick Hounds discovered in ditches east of CR 1100 E on Cass County Road 800 S near Walton, and at the intersection of CR 700 E and 250S.

On Tuesday, Cass County Central Dispatch received a call reporting numerous dead animals in a ditch along the roadside on Cass County Road 1100 East behind Grissom Air Force Base and the Grissom Aero Plex Facility.

Officer Brian Hyder from Cass County Animal Control, discovered five dogs and one cat in a drainage ditch located on the east side of the roadway. Yesterday, dispatch received another call reporting dead dogs in another ditch on Cass County Road 1100, where Hyder located seven more dogs. All of the animals were transported to the Cass County Humane Society. The cause of death for the newly discovered animals is undetermined at this time. The new discoveries brings the total number of Blue Tick Hounds found dead in southern Cass County to twenty-five (25): 12 puppies, 12 adult females and one adult male.
