Ivy Tech Corporate College will host a national conference entitled “Industry Certifications: Closing the Manufacturing Skills Gap in the Great Lakes Region” on Tuesday, June 17, from 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., at the Ivy Tech Corporate College and Culinary Center, located at 2820 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis. The conference provides a forum for national leaders from Industry, State Workforce Development Agencies, State Manufacturers Associations, State Community and Technical College Systems, and State Workforce Investment Boards to discuss the critical nexus of industry certifications leading to a highly skilled workforce designed to grow the Great Lakes Region whose eight states and two provinces comprise the world’s fourth largest economy at $4.7 trillion dollars.
A special announcement regarding the new National Institute for Metal Working Skills Industrial Maintenance Technician Certification is slated as one of the event highlights. This new nationally portable certification is an industry-recognized, transferrable credential that manufacturing employers have demanded and will help close the skills gap.
