DEMOCRATS ANNOUNCE COUNCIL CANDIDATE

The deadline for candidates to file for the November city election is approaching and over the weekend, Democrats announced a second candidate for one of the two at-large seats on the Logansport City Council. Kevin Burkett, a Logansport native who wrote a book about the city’s history, then purchased the State Theatre and returned to the city after a journalism career in Philadelphia, will join Terry Doran as the Democrat candidates for council at large. Chris Martin, who ran for the seat in 2011, is running as a Republican, and Charlie Hastings is running for his fourth term -- and his second as an independent, after an unsuccessful 2011 primary bid for mayor as a Democrat. All registered voters who live within the Logansport city limits can vote for the 2 at-large seats on the Logansport City Council. Logansport voters will also choose representatives for the five city council wards, along with the city’s mayor and clerk treasurer, in the election on November 3.
