FLOOD WARNINGS IN EFFECT

Flood warnings are in effect for many in our listening area today following another day of heavy rainfall yesterday.

INDOT says SR 218 in Cass County is closed between SR 29 and US 35 due to high water and there are high water signs throughout the 13 county northwest district.

The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for both the Wabash and Eel Rivers., with major flooding expected on the Eel River and moderate flooding on the Wabash River.

The Wabash River at Logansport was at 12.4 feet and rising Tuesday morning. Flood stage is 15 feet. The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon and crest near 15. 6 feet, then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon.

Flood stage is 9 feet for the Eel River at North Manchester - as of this morning, it was at 11.5 feet and rising. Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. The Eel River at North Manchester is expected to crest near 14 feet tomorrow morning and fall below flood stage Thursday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, many areas received between 2 and 4 inches of rain Monday causing water to pool in low areas and streams to flow out of their banks. More heavy rain is expected tomorrow.

The National Weather Service reminds drivers not to drive through flooded areas or allow children to play in or near flood waters.
