DRUG CHARGES AFTER TRAFFIC STOPS

Three people were arrested after a traffic stop around 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 10th Street and Erie Avenue in Logansport. The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisting the Cass County Drug Task Force and initiated the traffic stop, where a deputy could allegedly smell the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department a large amount of marijuana, cocaine and Schedule 2 prescription drugs was allegedly found during a search of the vehicle.

The driver, 40 year old Matt Burkett, and two passengers, 30 year old Rachel Alder and 49 year old Mark McGuire, were arrested and face numerous drug charges.

Two Michigan men were also cited earlier this week on drug charges after they were stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit at Market St. and East Roselawn around 10 p.m. Monday. The Cass County Sheriff's Department says a deputy smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and some marijuana was allegedly located in plain view. 21 year old Nicholas Genovesi and 21 year old Michael Dibble, both of Michigan, were cited for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
