PERU SCHEDULES MEETING ON TRAIN CARS

The City of Peru will hold a meeting Wednesday, March 9, at 6 p.m. to take public input on ideas for the train cars which formerly made up part of the Siding Restaurant.

Ron Short donated the train cars to the city when he sold the property at 8 West 10th Street to the Draper family. It is the City’s hope to move the cars off of the Draper property. Once that is complete, the city hopes to relocate the cars, one to a place agreed upon by the Nickel Plate Trail, and the other to a location at some place along the City Riverwalk.

The public meeting will be geared towards delivering more details on that information, and to gauge public interest in volunteering for projects pertaining to the moving and refurbishing of the cars, including, but not limited to, tasks such as painting, clean up and basic construction.

The meeting will be held at City Hall in the Board of Works chambers.
