CASS COUNTY OFFERING FREE TREES IN APRIL

Earlier this month, we told you that the City of Logansport was offering trees to residents as part of their Earth Day observation.

Now, Cass County residents will have the same opportunity, Cass County Commissioner Jim Sailors announced yesterday on Talk of the Town.

“We are partnering with the city in order to have trees. We’re going to purchase trees and give them away. They’ve already done that with 200 trees and they’ve gone so quickly that they would like to do it again, so we’re going to do half and half with them. We’ll be giving those away April 15 up the Penman Building. We’d like for everybody to call. They’d call the city building and talk to Marla, or call Brenna for the county at 574-753-7770.

Ralph Anderson said the trees will be purchased at a low cost of about a dollar from the state nursery, making it a fairly inexpensive way for the county to help residents replenish trees in the area. There is a limit of ten trees per person, and the number to call is 574-753-7770
