JUVENILE ARRESTED AFTER SCHOOL BOMB THREAT IN MIAMI CO.

A juvenile was detained after a bomb threat against the Maconaquah School Corporation was posted on a social media site Tuesday. An investigation was immediately initiated by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office and researched through a computer database on file at the sheriff’s office. Investigating officers discovered the social media post was made from the immediate area of a specific residence in Miami County and a search of records confirmed that a Maconaquah High School student resides at the location.

According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, during a statement made to investigating officers, the juvenile female allegedly admitted to posting the treat no the social media site around 7 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect denied manufacturing, possessing or deploying any explosive device and stated that no one else was involved in the threat, but law enforcement officers deployed explosive-detecting K9 units to search the campus as a precautionary measure, and additional law enforcement and school officials combined resources to ensure the safe operation of the school system. The juvenile was taken to a juvenile detention facility after coordination with the Miami County Juvenile Probation. The Indiana State Police, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Howard County Sheriff’s OFfice assisted in the investigation.
