PHARMACISTS CAN NOW DETERMINE LEGITIMATE NEED FOR COLD MEDICINES
At a Cass County Commissioners meeting Monday evening, commissioners passed an ordinance that will allow pharmacists to limit the sale of certain cold medicines that are known to be used to manufacture methamphetamine. Pharmacists will now be able to make a professional determination as to whether or not a buyer has a legitimate need for medicines containing ephedrine and pseudophedrine. It will not apply to purchasers who have been prescribed the products. Senator Randy Head of Logansport authored a law passed by the Indiana General Assembly last year, allowing pharmacies to limit the sale of cold medicines with pseudophedrine to customers who don’t have prescriptions.
