PIONEER JR. SR. HIGH SCHOOL LAUNCHES ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL PROGRAM
Pioneer Junior Senior High School is launching a new alternative school program this upcoming school year. The program will be for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level students who have been severely struggling in their education and somewhat “falling through the cracks”. We spoke with Principal Jeremy Tucker who said that the students in the program will generally be kids with motivational issues, poor grades, and in many cases, behavioral problems. Pioneer will be working in conjunction with Four County to provide the students an academic day with normal coursework as well as therapy elements. Principal Tucker indicated that often times students with consistent problems in school have a contributing underlying issue. With consistent one on one teacher-student interaction and a more restrictive environment, Pioneer hopes to facilitate more academic and social success for the kids in the program. Tucker also said they will be receiving guidance from Two Rivers Academy, who have been very successful in working with students in similar situations. The Pioneer alternative school program will include approximately ten students in those 6 - 8 grade levels.
