POLICE OFFICERS TO CARRY OPIOID OVERDOSE KITS
The Logansport Police Department recently conducted training at their Eastgate plaza facility on usage of opioid kits in overdose situations. Each officer who attended the training will be receiving an opioid overdose kit to carry with them while on duty. The kits are provided thanks to a 1st Responder Naloxone grant from the Indiana Attorney General’s office, and the training was conducted by Overdose Lifeline, a non-profit Indiana based organization. If an officer comes across someone who has overdosed on an opioid such as a prescription pain pill or heroin, the opioid kit could help that officer safe the person’s life. Police Chief Brad Rozzi says Logansport Police Officers have not yet had to use a kit.
