17 YEAR-OLD KOKOMO BOY LEADS OFFICIALS ON HIGH SPEED CHASE

A 17 year-old Kokomo boy faces charges after leading Miami county officials on a high speed chase Monday morning. Robert Johnson faces charges of auto theft, driving without a license, reckless driving, following too closely, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting law enforcement, aggressive driving, passing on the right and disregarding a stop sign. He led deputies on a nine-mile chase early Monday morning after allegedly stealing his mother’s car. Miami County Deputy Nate Freeman attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Cruz which didn’t dim its headlights at the intersection of 400 South and 550 East. The Cruz fled. Eventually police set up spikes at the intersection of the Wayne Street Bridge and Indiana 124. Johnson was finally apprehended near Wallick Road. There were two juvenile occupants in the vehicle. They told deputies they asked Johnson to stop fleeing. No one was injured in the incident.
