PARKS BOARD DISCUSSES POOL PROGRESS, NEW CAROUSEL FESTIVAL, AND RESIGNATION OF ADMINISTRATOR

In the words of Richard Brewer, Logansport Parks Administrator, work being done at the Muehlhausen Park & Aquatic Center is “moving right along.” Parks & Rec board members reviewed the progress last night in their regular monthly meeting. Board president Beth Myers stated that Steinberger construction has done “a spectacular job” on the women's shower room floor and has also repaired partitions leading in and out of the shower rooms. Lifeguards have been cleaning the pool which is now ready to be filled. If the pool passes a health department inspection scheduled for June 15th, it will be able to officially open. There is still much work that needs to be done at the facility. The board intends to soon take bids for quotes on necessary electrical work.

The resignation of Parks Administrator Richard Brewer was officially accepted last night by the board. They will soon be accepting applications to fill that vacancy.

Cass County Dentzel Carousel board member Linda Baldwin gave an update to the parks board on the first ever Carousel Festival at Riverside Park, scheduled to take place August 26th & 27th. The Carousel board has numerous activities, attractions, and non-stop entertainment planned for the two day extravaganza and hopes to attract thousands of visitors. Planning for the festival has been in the works since the idea was conceived in April 2015. Baldwin referenced the hard work of some dedicated local volunteers who have turned out to clean up Riverside Park and help make repairs in preparation for the festival. She encourages anyone who’d like to help to come out to the park this Saturday from 8 AM - Noon to lend a hand.
