Historic Board supports Memorial Center grant

The ongoing efforts to secure state funding for a war memorial on the National Register of Historic Places received a boost Thursday morning.
Five members on the Logansport Historic District Board of Review voted unanimously to support the city/county application for a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant. The money would be matched with local funds to complete the initial phase of the Memorial Center master plan, and preserve it for future
If the grant is awarded early this summer, it would provide funding for roughly the first one-third of the work necessary to improve the center, according to an updated master plan.
More information on the master plan and the grant will be presented at a public meeting Feb. 27 at McHale Performing Arts Center.
