GALVESTON MAN SENTENCED

A Galveston man has been sentenced for child solicitation. According to the Cass County prosecutor’s office, on December 29, 22 year old Kyle Bess knowingly solicited a 14 year old to perform a lap dance while she was alone in his care. State court documents filed on August 13 indicate that Bess plead guilty to child solicitation, a level 5 felony. The penalty ranges from one year to a maximum of 6 years. After presentation of evidence by the state and the defendant, the court sentenced Bess to 3 years, all to be executed in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

According to Cass County Prosecutor Lisa Swaim, with credit for good behavior, Bess may serve 75 percent of his sentence. Prior to the 2014 overhaul of the state’s criminal code, he could have served 50 percent of his sentence.
