Mayor Ted Franklin has called for a Committee Meeting of the City Council on the last full day of their term, Thursday, December 31, 2015 at noon in the City Council Chambers. The meeting will be immediately followed by a Special Meeting of the City Council for end of the year business. A new mayor, clerk-treasurer and city council will be sworn in at noon on Friday.
Under the new administration, city council meetings will remain on the first Monday of the month but will move to 6:30 p.m. Mayor-elect Dave Kitchell says it will help council members make it to meetings on time, and give the public more time to get to the meetings. He says it will also allow committee meetings to be scheduled prior to the meetings and will give the committee members a chance to meet without the time constraints of being forced to make a decision just to get something on the agenda.
