Galveston Fires Town Marshal

It’s done now. Galveston has fired Town Marshal Shawn Durham. But it was a split vote, 3-2. The move means the town currently has no law enforcement officers. Despite a packed house of supporters Tuesday, the majority said Durham had showed several instances of insubordination. The town council president says that several off duty Cass County deputies have agreed to provide police coverage. The council’s next meeting is August 1st, when they will talk about what’s next.
