Galveston May Hire Cass County Deputies

More developments in the town marshal flap in Galveston. Now, the town council says it may hire Cass County deputies, but there is anything but consensus. Town Marshal Shawn Durham was fired on a 3-2 split vote Tuesday. Council President John Hart had said the town would use off-duty Cass County deputies in the meantime, but other council members said that wouldn’t be right if no vote had been taken to allow it. The next meeting is Monday at 7pm in the Galveston Community Center.
