City To Hold Financial Public Meeting

Logansport will hold a forum on city finances Wednesday at the State Theater. Mayor Dave Kitchell says in a news release that an accountant will provide a financial analysis for the city and county government, as well as Logansport schools. Kitchell says the forum is important because he feels most residents don’t realize that Logansport is operating on virtually the same general fund budget than it did seven years ago. Kitchell says the city lost more than 26 percent of its budget due to the state’s so-called “circuit breaker” property tax caps. He projects that the city will lose another 30 percent next year. Wednesday’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.
