Sunday Evacuation Caused By Gas Line Rupture

Sunday’s evacuation in Logansport was due to a break in a natural gas line underground. The city says a piece of construction equipment struck the line in the 800 block of 19th Street. A crew had been building a fence at a property there. The ruptured line belongs to Northern Indiana Public Service Company. The fire department evacuated homes along 19th, 20th, Wright and Usher Streets as a precaution. Traffic was also not allowed through the area until the line was capped.
