West Nile Virus Discovered In Miami County

Miami County health officials are reporting the discovery of West Nile Virus in a mosquito. It’s the first confirmed presence of West Nile in Miami County. No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in the region, but statewide, the health department says West Nile has been discovered in mosquitoes in 35 Indiana counties this year. So far this year, only one human case of West Nile Virus has been reported nationwide. Experts remind you to remove any standing water on your property and use insect repellent that contains DEET.
