The scholarship fund for Ivy Tech Community College students from Cass, Fulton, and Pulaski counties was boosted by more than $30,000 recently, thanks to the seventh For the Love of Education Valentine’s Ball sponsored by the College’s Logansport Campus.
The 2017 edition of the fundraiser brought in $24,400 in sponsorships and donations for new scholarships as well as more than $6,000 in revenue from the event ticket sales and live and silent auctions.
“The support in this community is just amazing,” said Kelly Karickhoff, executive director of Resource Development for Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Region. “Every dollar raised from this event goes toward student scholarships – and supporting Ivy Tech’s mission of changing the lives of local students.”
Special check presentations came from Security Federal Savings Bank, the endowed scholarship and event sponsor; and annual scholarships and gold sponsors Cole Hardwood, The Johnson Agency, Mike Anderson Auto Group; and Rita Jackson. All five contributed funds for scholarships that will cover some tuition costs and textbooks for selected students attending one of Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Region campuses or instructional sites. They were joined for photographs by David Bathe, chancellor of Ivy Tech’s Kokomo and Lafayette Region, and Suzanne Dillman, associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs for Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Region and chair of the event.
The evening featured entertainment by the Jhonny and Sallie Show; live and silent auctions with the support of Catherine and Brent Evans of CKE Charity Auctioneers; and a plated dinner and cash bar.
Entertainment, beverage and food sponsors included Grand Industrial LLC, Arnold’s Fine Jewelry and Gifts, Windmill Grill, and Tyson Foods. Gold sponsors were City of Logansport, Materials Processing Inc., Cris-Nik Sales Inc., Logansport Memorial Hospital, and Beacon Credit Union. Silver sponsors included Cass County Title, the Cass County Democratic Party, The Andersons, Gary and Chris Armstrong, John and Nancy Rhodes, Logansport Savings Bank, Warner’s Greenhouse, and Audio Inferno. Bronze sponsors included Trine University, Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce, Carmichael Electric, and Cass County Economic Development.
