FORUM ON YOUTH METH USE TO BE HELD IN ROCHESTER

According to a 2014 study from the Indiana Prevention Resource Center, almost 2 percent of high school seniors in the north central region of Indiana report trying methamphetamine. Meth is a highly addictive, physically damaging drug. In response to the issue of growing youth methamphetamine abuse, the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) is hosting a forum that will explore the indicators of meth in a community and how to combat the use of it.

The forum will feature Brock Russell, an investigator with the Indiana State Police, who has investigated more than 200 meth labs and given over 250 training sessions to community groups. He will discuss the life long effects of using meth and why the drug is gaining popularity.

The forum will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m. EDT on March 24, at the Purdue Cooperative Extension, 1009 W. 3rd St., Rochester, 46975. There is no charge for parking. As part of Indiana Youth Institute’s Youth Worker Café program, the forum is free and lunch will be served, but reservations are required by noon on March 23. RSVP at www.iyi.org/YWC.
