LANDOWNERS APPEALING ANNEXATION

The attorney for the Washington Township landowners says the group has appealed the city's annexation order that was entered last month by Kokomo Judge Douglas Tate. Jim Brugh says because the city could have quickly filed the ordinance in the courthouse, which would have canceled the right to appeal, the remonstrators  asked the court for a stay or a hold on the annexation. The city had requested that the court require remonstrators to post a bond in an amount to provide appropriate security for the city. Judge Tate granted the stay earlier this month and denied the city's request for a bond.
