A former Miami County surgeon who has been on the run since Tuesday night was apprehended Thursday night in Arizona.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Department says Gregory A. Konrath was apprehended at 7:45 last night during a traffic stop along Interstate 40, west of Flagstaff, Arizona and was taken into custody without incident, following a joint investigation that began Tuesday night and included assistance from the US Marshall’s Office and FBI.
Konrath is incarcerated in an Arizona Jail pending extradition to Miami County. where the Miami County Sheriff’s Department says he will be held without bond pending prosecution for the alleged Escape from Lawful Detention and possible revoking of his previously suspended eight year sentence to the Department of Corrections.
Konrath was initially arrested for Attempted Murder by the Miami County Sheriff's Office in July after investigators discovered that he had allegedly discussed a plot to murder his ex-wife. He was later charged with two counts of stalking and the attempted murder charge was dropped. Konrath was placed on in-home detention April 14 after entering a plea agreement for the stalking. He violated the in-home detention and escaped on Tuesday.
