BALLOT SET FOR MAYOR, CLERK-TREASURER IN FALL

Republican incumbent Ted Franklin will face Democrat Dave Kitchell this fall in the battle for Logansport mayor. Just under 24% of Logansport voters turned out to vote in a primary that saw six candidates vying to become the city’s next mayor.

Franklin held onto the Republican ballot with 454 votes, or 47.6 percent of the votes, while Larry Hood received 321 votes and Mike Berkshire received 179.

Democrat Dave Kitchell received 591 votes while Matt Meagher received 270 and Rick Ricks received 95.

Republican incumbent Clerk Treasurer Carol Sue Hayworth received 549 votes to 405 for Tyler Ness and will face Democrat Stacy Cox in the fall.

Many of the candidates expressed disappointment with the low voter turnout.

June 30 is the deadline for the parties to fill empty seats on the ballot for this fall.

Delphi mayor Randy Strasser, a democrat, lost his re-election bid, and Jack Wilson will face Republican Louis Hayden this fall in Delphi. In Rochester, where Republicans had a 3 way race, Ted Denton will face Democrat Dick Roe.
