Many local businesses and organizations will be closed tomorrow (July 3) in observance of the 4th of July. Annual celebrations are planned in Logansport, Twelve Mile and Walton.
A variety show and fireworks are scheduled for Friday night in Twelve Mile. The annual parade begins at 11:30 Saturday morning in Twelve Mile, followed by the 53rd running of the Twelve Mile 500 Lawnmower Race.
In Walton, the Wounded Warrior Run begins at 8:15 Saturday morning at the Walton Legion. Parade Lineup starts at 1 p.m. in the Lewis Cass Parking Lot -- the parade begins at 2 p.m. The Walton Fire Department Car Show and Fish Fry begins at 4 p.m. The TipWa Antique Tractor Club will also hold their annual event July 3-5. The Walton Masonic Lodge will serve lunch and dinner Saturday, and fireworks begin at dusk.
The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department will sponsor a Community Garage Sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the McHale Complex. The Firecracker float, featuring canoe rides from Spencer Park to Riverside Park runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food vendors will be open from 2-10 p.m. and live music on the community stage begins at 5 p.m. Performers include Jason McKeever, followed by the band Opaque. Fireworks will begin just after 10 pm on the north side of the river.
The Cass County 4-H Fair gets underway Sunday. Events include the Vesper Service, featuring Cowboy Church with Ray Perryman at 6 and the Queen Contest at 7.
