500 HISTORIAN COMING TO LOGANSPORT
Indy 500 Historian Donald Davidson will be in Logansport April 1 as part of the events leading up to the 100th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
Mayor Dave Kitchell says it’s a fundraising event, which has been named “Joyce Takes the Checkered Flag” in honor of retiring United Way Executive Director Joyce Mayhill. All proceeds from the event will benefit United Way where Mayhill has worked for the past 18 years.
Kitchell credits Indianapolis 500 officials who reached out to Logansport and other cities to include them in the 100th running of the race and says Logansport has strong connections to the motorsports industry.
Mayhill says she’s humbled and grateful that Kitchell acknowledges the importance of United Way’s work and is thankful to the thousands of volunteers and donors that have helped over the last 18 years.
Tickets for the April 1 event, which will be held in the Ivy Tech Atrium, are $15 and will be available at the door. The event includes snacks and a cash bar, and begins at 6 p.m.
