In the first-ever Hoosier Pulse, a Hathaway Strategies – Bellwether Research Indiana Opinion Leader Survey, Hoosier opinion leaders predict good nights for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Todd Young on May 3rd, but see a tight race between Mike Pence and John Gregg in November and a flip of Indiana’s Electoral College votes to the Democratic column if it’s Hillary vs. Trump. In addition, nearly three-fourths of participants oppose the new abortion law scheduled to take effect in July – including 60 percent of Republican opinion leaders. And nearly eight in ten respondents support adding sexual orientation and gender identity as protections under Indiana Civil Rights law. Respondents include Republican and Democratic Party officials at the local, district, and state level, former party officials and elected officials, and other opinion leaders from across the state.
