Area high school seniors Emily Pomasl and Madison Martin have been chosen as two of only ten new female members of the co-ed IU Bloomington Cheerleading squad after a vigorous two-day tryout process last weekend. The co-ed squad is known as Cream squad and is responsible for cheering for the IU Men’s football and Men’s basketball seasons. Both ladies have spent many hours preparing for this important tryout.
Pomasl is a Logansport High School senior who will graduate with 16 varsity letters in Cross Country, Soccer, Gymnastics, Cheerleading and Track. She has been All NCC in Gymnastics for 4 years and a state finalist in Gymnastics for all 4 years. Emily is also a member of various other student clubs, including the National Honor Society.
Madison Martin is a Caston senior, ranked 8th in her class. Martin has been involved with Tumbling at Heartland Gymnastics, Kokomo Flipsters, Loganland All Stars, Bella Rose Gymnastics, and Rochester Tumbling Express over the years. At Caston, she has been been a Varsity cheerleader, played Varsity volleyball, and participated in numerous other clubs and activities.
Pomasl and Martin had to make it through 3 rounds in the 2 day tryout process. Of the final 10 ladies chosen, 6 are upper classmen and 4 are incoming freshman. In the process, they had to perform the fight song, various band chants, sideline chants, their best tumbling skills and partner stunting.
