NATURAL GAS LEAK CAUSES HOME EXPLOSION IN MONTICELLO

A natural gas leak caused a house in Monticello to explode early Saturday morning. Three occupants in the home escaped with only minor injuries. When firefighters arrived just after 2 AM Saturday, the structure was actively burning and a gas meter on the side of the home was also on fire. Firefighters entered the structure to combat the fire and search for the residents inside. 61 year-old John B. Robinson, his wife Eva Robinson, 46, and a cousin, Shawn C Hayden, 43, had all managed to escape prior to the firefighters’ arrival. Investigators determine the cause of the explosion to be a natural gas leak. Officials are still searching for the location of the leak and ignition source.
