WORK TO BE COMPLETED ON CITY POOL BEFORE JUNE 3RD OPENING
The Logansport Parks Board held their regular meeting last night. The main focus of the session was The Muelhausen Park Aquatic Center, formerly known as Tower Park Pool. The pool is scheduled to open June 3rd and the board is busily determining the work that needs to be completed in order for that to happen. The main priority is the women's shower room floor and drainage which needs immediate attention in order to be safe and functional. But, there are other projects calling for repair or that need addressed that were seemingly left unfinished. Ventilation in the bathhouse, electricity throughout the park, and an improperly working splash pad are all on the list. The board reviewed bids yesterday from three local contractors - Shepler Construction, Leo Brown Construction, and Steinberger Construction. Doug Miller from Steinberger was present and able to answer questions board members had regarding some of those needed repairs, options and timelines. Miller is also providing the board with a pricing breakdown of individual repairs and costs that will help the board decide which projects will fit into the budget for this season. The Parks Boards is holding a separate pool committee session that will meet Tuesday, May 17th at 6 PM to make final decisions on contractors and expedite the work that needs to be done.
