As the No. 3 Logansport boys basketball team prepares for the next chapter in its history-making season, Cass Area Transit is preparing to be part of the critical sectional weekend.
Fans who want to attend Friday night’s initial Logansport game against either Harrison or Zionsville will be able to call Cathy Martinez at 722-2424 to reserve a seat on a special fan shuttle to the game, which is free. Coolers are welcome, but open containers and food will not be allowed on the bus.
Fans will need to purchase sectional tickets at the Berry Bowl or at the Crawley Athletic Center.
Mayor Dave Kitchell praised CAT and its board for providing not only a service to local residents, but support to local school athletic programs.
“Earlier this season, CAT offered a special excursion to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Tournament in New Castle, and local residents responded,” Mayor Kitchell said. “We’re hopeful that fans will again respond and this shuttle will be booked very quickly.”
The bus will leave the CAT parking lot at Sixth and High streets at 4:30 p.m. Friday. If the Berries win, a second shuttle will depart from the same location at 6 p.m. Saturday for the championship game. If the Berries win the sectional, they will host the regional next week at the Berry Bowl.
The Berries, who completed their most successful regular season in school history with a victory over Frankfort Friday, have defeated every school in the Lafayette Sectional except Zionsville. The two teams did not play this season.
