Bunker Hill Man Sentenced

A Bunker Hill man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to shaking and killing his 7-week-old daughter in an attempt to stop her crying. Devon Powell, 23, was sentenced last month during an emotionally charged hearing in which the family of the infant called Powell a monster, a demon and a coward. Powell accepted a plea agreement in May in which he pleaded guilty to one felony count of battery resulting in death of a person less than 14 years of age. Initially, Powell first reported his daughter had choked while taking a bottle.
