Community Foundation Offering Four New College Scholarships

Students graduating next year will want to take note of some new local scholarships being offered by the Cass County Community Foundation. The four scholarships were all started by family members in memory of their loved ones. First, the Lisa E. Arnett Memorial Scholarship was started in memory of her outstanding teaching abilities. Arnett worked at All Saints Catholic School before moving on to Lincoln Middle School. Any graduating senior from Logansport High is eligible by answering a question about how they plan to carry on Lisa’s legacy. Meanwhile, the Charlie Hamm Memorial Scholarship has been established by his wife, Marsha, to honor Charlie’s love of golf. Any LHS senior who is a member of the golf team and carries at least a 2.5 GPA is eligible to apply. The Cara D. Chambers-Steinbarger Memorial Scholarship will be open to any female student who wishes to attend Purdue University. Chambers-Steinbarger graduated from Purdue in 1996. Candidates must carry a 3.0 GPA and submit an essay on one of two subjects. And finally, the Tom Helms Memorial 4-H Scholarship will be awarded each year at the Cass County 4-H Fair. Applicants must have belonged to 4-H for at least 10 years and write an essay on how 4-H has impacted their life and career decisions. Helms was a lifelong farmer and worked for the Cass County Highway Department. If you’d like more information, call 574-722-2200.
